Australia's Green Rubbish Removal Commitment

recycling our rubbishGreen in Australia is becoming a favorite color, primarily because the country is committing itself fully to the environmentalist cause. One obvious aspect of this new commitment is the changing of laws when it comes to rubbish disposal. Australia along with other major countries is committing to reducing its carbon emissions with the concurrence of Sydney and New South Wales.

Rubbish removalists in Sydney are required to efficiently and responsibly dispose of its wastes. As of writing, there are 12 waste facilities in Sydney that recycle, process ad dispose. Each facility will receive a specific category of waste. Moreover, landfills that are closed are being rehabilitated through planting of native plants such as those in Lucas Heights. Landfills can only be used for a certain period of time so as not to permanently pollute the area. Sydney has 4 landfills currently in operation with an aim to reduce the amount of space used and maximize the allotted time. For every site, there are areas to receive wastes so as to lessen the number of vehicles moving in the area as well as to be able to perform streaming of the rubbish.

In NSW, a company called the WSN initiated a project in 1994, the Green Energy generation from the waste. This procedure is distributed across the areas and able to supply energy for 30,000 homes. There is energy in rubbish literally speaking, not only to generate power supply for energy is significantly saved in recycling. Recycling a ton of plastic bags saves a substantial amount of energu equivalent to your power supply for your refrigeration in an entire month. It is a fact that 80% of the entire household rubbish can be recycled.

NSW households in the region are able to recycle a significant 46% of their rubbish. In fact, Aussies are known to be excellent recyclists of newspapers in the world. In 2005, they wera able to successfully recycle 74% of their newspapers. In the same year, Aussies have also recycled 2.3 billion aluminum cans, a substantial amount with 600 million more cans than was recycled 10 years ago. It is a way to make up for holding a world record in being the highest producers of waster per person.

However, there is much to do for an approximate 7 billion cigarette butts every year are being thrown in the country’s waterways, streets, and parks. Moreover, 80 million plastic bags are threatening the life and health of Australia’s rich marine life.

Australians need to respond to the challenge of committing to a green lifestyle, not only to recover the damage we have inflicted on our environment the past years, but to secure the future of our children.
